The heat didn’t stop our work party at the landfill!

We are so thrilled to have awesome volunteers step up to help us on a hot, humid day in July. This crew showed up ready to work!

Before we arrived on site, Joe Pac (from Plummer Landscaping) kicked off the volunteer effort by driving a Brush Hog through Mugwort that was up to 5ft tall in some places.

With the Mugwort knocked down, the work party crew was able to clear a wide path for the future trail in just over an hour! Since then, we’ve roughly staked out the path and continued to build a plan for space.

Each time we walk the trail, someone notices something new—a new flower, bird, or sound—that makes this place unique and sparks so many great ideas for future uses. Look out for new community walk dates throughout this project.

What’s next? We’ll continue to partner with the city for support and resources as we draft a plan for the area and wildlife viewing platform.

We’ll be tapping into the energy and expertise of our Jonah Center network to create a special place we’ll all love to visit.
