The Jonah Center will be hosting two separate litter cleanup events this month, on April 19 and 26 and we’d like to invite you to join us. Litter Cleanups are a fun way to help your community and meet other like-minded folks who care about keeping our towns, cities, and the natural environment clean. Help celebrate Earth Week by pitching in.
The first will be held on Saturday April 19th beginning at 10:00 a.m. The goal will be to clean up litter that has accumulated near the intersection of Silver Street and River Road in Middletown. Parking for this event will be available off of Silver Street with additional parking on Silvermine Road. (See map below).

The second cleanup will be a smaller undertaking on Rockfall Road, in Middlefield and will take place on Saturday April 26th beginning at 10:00 a.m. Parking will be on the side of Whisper Wind Road in Middlefield, and we will work our way up towards Laurel Grove Road (which is technically Middletown). See map below.

If you are interested in joining either cleaning party, please complete the Litter Clean-Up Registration Form and specify which event you will be attending (April 19 – River Road, or April 26 – Rockfall Road, or both).
Things to know before you go:
- Please bring a pair of work gloves.
- We highly recommend wearing boots, long pants and long sleeves to protect against ticks, potential mud, etc.
- We will be providing some nifty nabbers (trash grabbers) on a first-come first-served basis. If you own one, please bring it, as our supply is limited.
- We will supply the garbage bags. In case of inclement weather, we will notify you of postponement.
Thank you so much for your continued efforts to keep our neighborhoods as litter-free as possible!
