Spring is a great time to focus on energy efficiency in our homes. We tend to worry about staying warm in the winter, but it’s more important now than ever to stay cool during very hot summers.

On April 18th, a group of awesome energy efficiency volunteers walked from Wesleyan campus to visit neighbors in the North End.
We spoke to 30 residents, sharing the benefits and value of scheduling a Home Energy Solutions assessment and service visit. (See flyer below)
It was fun to be “on a mission”, in the Jonah Center safety vests, and wrap up with a treat at Perkatory.

Note: As of April 1st, 2026, the copay for a Home Energy Solutions visit is $40. The copay is waived from residents that meet income requirements, defined on the HeatSmart site.
What’s next for this program? We’ll continue to share the benefits with landlords. And we’re just beginning a project with the Middletown Housing Authority to bring this service to even more people.
