Summer Jobs — Aquatic Field Workers

Every year (late-May through mid-August) the Jonah Center organizes weekend “Paddle With A Purpose” work parties to remove invasive water chestnut plants from the lower Mattabesset River between Middletown and Cromwell.

We plan to hire a part-time Field Work Coordinator ($31/hour) and 3 part-time Field Workers ($22/hour) to assist volunteers on weekend mornings and to work as a team on weekday mornings.

Physical fitness, strength, ability to swim, and access to a vehicle are required for Field Workers. For the Coordinator, the ability to operate a small outboard motorboat (or the willingness to be trained to do so) is an additional requirement. Foldable kayaks will be provided for workers who don’t have their own.
